Using Graphviz

After the installation of Graphviz (see my previous post) its ready to use.
Start notepad and start a new document.

Installation of Graphviz

Graphviz is open source graph visualization software. Graph visualization is a way of representing structural information as diagrams of abstract graphs and networks. It has important applications in networking, bioinformatics,  software engineering, database and web design, machine learning, and in visual interfaces for other technical domains.  (source: http://www.graphviz.org)

  1. Download and Install GraphViz (http://www.graphviz.org)
    I used version 2.38
  2. Dowload Notepad++
    I used version v6.8.8
  3. Download Notepad++ plugin: NppExec
    This plugin can be downloaded directly via the Plugin manager of Notepad++. I used version 0.5.3
  4. Inside Notepad++ press F6 and add the following text line.

    [php]dot "$(FULL_CURRENT_PATH)" -Tpdf -o "$(CURRENT_DIRECTORY)\$(NAME_PART).pdf"[/php]

  5. Go to system variables and add the directoy of Graphviz to your system PATH

    [php];C:\Program Files (x86)\Graphviz2.38\bin[/php]

  6. Download the Graphviz Syntax Coloring (https://github.com/signmotion/graphviz-syntax-highlighting)
    Add the XML file to your language inside Notepad ++
    Open Notepad++, menu Language / Create User Define Language / Import.
